Media24’s two community upliftment trusts, Rachel’s Angels and the Inkwenkwezi Trust, purchased 450 books in November to be distributed among previously disadvantaged high-school students. The investment marks a significant show of confidence in the Varsity project. Johan Fourie, co-editor of the book, remarks: “This investment allows us to get the book to exactly those students who would not typically have access to information about university life. We hope that other institutions will follow the example set by Media24 and ensure that tertiary education is now only accessible to students, but a successful experience for them.”
